Spring Blossoms

Just thought I'd post my second entry for BBTB contest. I thought this little guy was super cute. I was able to use my new Design Studio to make the branches out of the letter "J". I'm slowly getting the hang of the DS for my Cricut.

Not my fault

I promise I've been trying to post, but this computer has a mind of it's own.
I still don't have a decent picture of Miranda with her braces. I'll get it posted soon though.
She's over the initial pain and is now "enjoying" life with braces. They are pretty cute on her.
I entered another contest on the Bitten by the Bug site. We had to create a spring card using, pink, yellow, orange, green and a touch of brown. Here's what I came up with.....
Here'a a close up shot of the Seasons clock I created.....
I just love spring... I even had my first daffodil bloom yesterday! Yeah!
I'm really enjoying the warmer weather...gotta love Vegas in the spring!

One thing that is my fault.....Yesterday I woke up and began my regular daily routine, Miranda to school at 6:45, shower at 7:30, wake parker at 8, finish getting ready, breakfast at 8:20, and carpool to school at 8:45. But this Wednesday was a little different.... It started the same, except at 8:20 I came down to get Parker's breakfast and make his lunch.....our conversation went a little like this...
Mom: What would you like for breakfast today Park?
Parker: I'll have Captain Crunch, it's faster... I need to go early today for choir.
Mom: (Gasp) Oh no...Parker, it's already 8:20.
Parker: That's ok, we can hurry, it's not til 8:30
Mom: No honey, it starts at 8:00, but we can hurry and you can go late.
Parker: I can't do that
Mom: Why not
Parker: Because no one else has been late before.

Well, I think you get the drift of how the rest of the conversation went. Parker ended up missing choir and his day started in a slump. I felt soooo bad. I knew it was bound to happen, that I would forget something, I just wish it wouldn't have been his choir. I was afraid his whole day would be ruined, but after school when I went to pick him up, he actually wanted to walk with his friend. So I knew he had forgotten, and hopefully forgiven.

Like Mother...Like daughter?

I feel like I'm so out of the loop when I don't post. I'm not sure what my computer is doing, but I'm posting as often as it will let me. I want to post pictures of Miranda's braces, but she's not happy with the one's I have, so I'm going to take some more so they will meet her approval before I post.
Speaking of Miranda, she is growing up right before my eyes. She loves to just hang out in her room and read, listen to music, sketch, & whatever pre-teen's do in there. A few nights ago I went upstairs to check on her and just say hello and I ran into this note posted outside her door......
After trying to decipher her new handwriting and French phrase, I decided I valued my life and so I did not disturb her. I found out the next morning, she was just reading and did NOT want to be disturbed. I'm good with that. She is such a wonderful daughter and friend. She has a lot of my personality traits that I see emerging all the time as well as many of her own.

More Difficulties

I'm not sure what is going on with my home computer. I'm not able to log into any blogger accounts. So not only have I not been able to update my own posts, but I've not been able to look at others. I'm posting from the office again today. I have some fun pictures of Miranda's braces. They are so cute! She's pretty frustrated with the pain and not able to eat this week. (I remember those good times) I hope to figure out what's going on so I can keep everyone up to date with the happenings at out house.

Washington DC

I'm Back!

Yeah..... My computer finally got over whatever was wrong. I've been dying to post some pictures from our Washington DC trip. We had such a wonderful time despite the cold weather. We packed in a lot of sight seeing in just 3 days. It started with the Lincoln Memorial on Saturday and ended with the White House on Tuesday Morning. With many stops in between. The kids loved riding the metro. They liked to see who could stand up without holding onto the bars the longest. I quite enjoyed the National Archives and seeing the Declaration of Independence as well as Arlington Cemetery. I'd never been there in the two times I had visited DC. I was amazed at how big Arlington was. Ryan gave us a tour around his old Mission area, that was fun for our kids to see. We had a wonderful time and the kids didn't even miss school (he he) .
Check out my slide show for lots of fun picturess of all the stops. For Valentine's Day we gave the kids each a book. The Daring Book for Girls for Miranda and the Dangerous Book for Boys for Parker. They have both spent the last two days devouring these books. These are really cute books and I highly recommend them. They are just full of interesting things for boys and girls to read about, make, or do. It's hard to explain it so here's a link to check them out. BOYS GIRLS

I hate to make this entry so short since I haven't written in so long, but I'm very tired. Tomorrow we're going to Cedar for the extended weekend. Miranda is getting Braces!

Technical Difficulties

I tried to post before we left for Washington last Friday, but my computer was having issues and wouldn't let me. I'm posting from the office today, but I'm going to attempt again to post from home...there is so much to show and tell about our vacation. Just didn't want anyone to wonder where I had been.

Super (bowl) Sunday

Well...I didn't actually watch the Superbowl. I was busy making card kits for RS. I'm not sure how many will sign up, but I wanted to get as many done as I had supplies for.
Here is a preview of the cards.

I was unable to stop at just one or two.
So they actually get to make 5.

The Birthday boy I created just for fun, although I may add it in as a bonus for those who attend. I hope they'll be able to get all 5 assembled. They are pretty simple cards.

Tomorrow is Ryan's official 40th birthday. We'll probably just go out to dinner since we already had his big celebration on Friday. His parents helped us eat some of the leftovers, but there is still quite a bit. Good thing we love Mexican food!

I took a nap today (gotta love those Sunday naps) hopefully I'll still be able to sleep tonight.

Oh, What a Night!

Last night was the big shindig for Ryan's 40th. Wow...we sure had a packed house. We ended up with 40 people last night. It was so fun to see everyone and visit with them all. Ryan had a great time. I hope everyone had fun and didn't leave hungry! Plenty of food! We had Mexican fare. Nancie and Raynold came early to help with set-up. I actually had everything under control, so they didn't have too much to do. Nancie was a great help with fixing the enchilada's (once she remembered the cheese). Raynold was a sweetie and cleaned up our backyard. We had hoped the weather would be nice enough to go outside. As it turned out, no one went out there. My mom and dad came out early and mom took control of heating up the food for me....(thanks mom!)
I ended up making a few more favor boxes, (thank goodness). I also made CD's for everyone of some of Ryan's favorite songs. I designed a label that was darling. I don't have any left, so I need to make a couple more for us. I'll get a picture then.
I was dead tired last night. Thank goodness for granny, mom and my uncle Lee for being on dish duty! I really was grateful. This morning Nancie had the rest of the "after party" mess cleaned up before I even got out of bed. Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!
I'm finishing up the final ideas for Relief Society cards so I can start sign-ups tomorrow. I'll try to post pics tomorrow of the final product.
